About
Cornwall Bound is a guide to Cornwall, built one town at a time. We started in Bude, and we’re working our way round the coast.
Most guides to Cornwall try to cover the whole county at once — three hundred miles of coast flattened into a single top ten, written from somewhere else, and rarely revisited. That’s fine if you want the postcard version. It’s less useful when you want to know which café is open in February, where to park at Crooklets when the tide is high, or which harbour is worth the drive on a grey Tuesday.
So we’re doing it the slow way instead. One town, properly, then the next.
Organised by town, not by county
Everything here sits under the place it belongs to. Each town gets its own page: the beaches, the places to eat and drink, the shops and independent makers, and the things worth knowing before you arrive.
We began with Bude, because it’s where we live and where we could check things on foot. From there we’ve been working outward along the North Coast, Boscastle, Crackington Haven, Tintagel, Widemouth, Padstow, Wadebridge, and we’ll keep going until the map is full.
That means there are parts of Cornwall we haven’t reached yet, and we’d rather say so than pretend otherwise. A town appears here when we know it well enough to be useful about it, not before. When we write that a place is worth your afternoon, it’s because someone has been.
What’s editorial and what’s paid
Two things fund this site, and we’d rather you knew which is which.
Some businesses pay for a listing or a written feature. Those are always labelled, you’ll see “Advertisement feature” at the top of anything commissioned, and paid listings are marked as such. Everything else is editorial: chosen because we rate it, unpaid, and not for sale at any price.
No business can buy its way into an editorial recommendation. If we’ve written warmly about somewhere and there’s no label on it, nobody paid us to say so. Our full editorial and disclosure policy sets out exactly how this works, including corrections, review policy, and affiliate links.
Who writes it
Cornwall Bound is written and photographed by the team at Fortico Media Ltd, a small studio based on Belle Vue Lane in Bude.
Fortico builds websites for businesses across Cornwall, which is how this started: we kept meeting good people running good places, and kept noticing that the internet had very little to say about them. Cornwall Bound is the attempt to fix that, beginning at home, and spreading out from there.
We’re not a tourist board and we’re not a booking platform. We don’t take a commission on your holiday. We’re a small publication with a growing patch and a long memory for which places are worth going back to.
If you run a business in Cornwall
The directory is open to every business we cover, and a basic listing is free, you don’t have to pay us to be part of the record.
If you’d like a fuller page, or a proper written feature, the rate card is public and there’s no minimum term.
And if you’re somewhere we haven’t got to yet, tell us anyway. Which towns we take on next is decided largely by who gets in touch, so putting your name down genuinely moves you up the list.
Say hello
We answer everything, usually the same day. Get in touch, whether it’s a correction, a tip about somewhere we’ve missed, or a question about being listed.
Especially the tips. Half of what’s on this site started as somebody telling us about a place we’d driven past a hundred times.
