Editorial & Disclosure

Cornwall Bound is a small, independent publication. This page sets out how we work — how we choose what to write about, how we take money without letting it affect what we say, and how we label the difference between the two.

Editorial independence

Our unpaid features and directory picks are chosen on merit — because we’ve been, we like the place, and we think you would too. No business can pay to appear in our editorial recommendations. If we’ve written about somewhere without labelling it as a paid feature, that’s why.

Editors have the final say on what appears, in what order, and how it reads. Paid advertisers do not see or approve editorial coverage before publication.

The two ways money enters

Cornwall Bound is funded in two ways, both of which are clearly labelled wherever they appear:

  • Directory listings. Businesses can pay to be listed in our directory (Featured or Partner tier) or receive a free Basic listing. Paid listings get better placement and a dofollow link to their own website; they don’t get to influence our editorial. A “Partner” or “Featured” ribbon appears on every paid listing so it’s obvious which is which.
  • Sponsored features. Businesses can commission a written article + photography from us. These are labelled “Advertisement feature” at the top of the page, in line with the UK CAP Code. The subject business sees the piece before publication and can request factual corrections, but we retain editorial control of the writing.

Corrections

We aim to be accurate and up-to-date, but the coast changes fast — chefs move on, opening hours shift, businesses close. If you spot something that’s wrong, please let us know and we’ll fix it. Substantive corrections to published articles are noted at the foot of the piece with a short “Updated” line.

Reviews and criticism

Where we write about a place, we’ve usually visited (often anonymously and at our own expense). We won’t publish a bad review of a paid advertiser without giving them a right of reply. We would rather not cover a place we don’t rate than lie about liking it — you’ll find plenty of places we haven’t written about.

Photography

Wherever possible we use our own photography. When we use images supplied by businesses (typically on Featured and Partner listings), those images have been provided under a licence for that purpose. Third-party photography from other sources is credited.

Links to other websites

Links from paid listings and sponsored features are marked as rel="sponsored" or otherwise disclosed, in line with Google’s link-attribute guidance. Editorial links to third-party sources — sources for statistics, official websites, news reports — are standard “dofollow” links and represent our editorial judgement.

Affiliate links

Some links to accommodation and activity providers may be affiliate links, meaning we earn a small commission if you book after clicking. These never influence what we recommend, and don’t change the price you pay. Where a page contains affiliate links, we say so.

Reader feedback

We’d rather hear from readers than not. Corrections, tips, disagreements, recommendations of places we’ve missed — all welcome at [email protected].
